Andrew Norkin, DMD, MD, a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelors of Science in Biology at Emory University. Pursuing further medical training felt like a natural choice upon graduation from Emory. Dr. Norkin earned his Doctorate in Dental Medicine, DMD, from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. While at Harvard, he had the opportunity to work with some of the nation's preeminent dental scholars. He continued his graduate training at the University of Miami School of Medicine where he earned his M.D. degree. Dr. Norkin's intensive 6 year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital offered unique training opportunities in facial trauma, pathology and reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, dental implant surgery, and anesthesia. Additionally, Dr. Norkin completed a 1-year fellowship in anesthesia while at Jackson Memorial Hospital and is well qualified to provide anesthesia and sedation to adults, children, and patients with special needs.
Dr Norkin is currently on staff at Delray Medical Center (the trauma center for southern palm beach county), North Broward Medical Center, Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and West Boca Medical Center. He is a member of the following professional organizations: American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and South Palm Beach County Dental Association. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Norkin lives in South Florida with his wife, Dr. Jessica Norkin, and their young daughter. In his free time, he enjoys watching football, playing tennis, and spending time with family and friends.
Giancarlo Bland, DMD, was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He came to the United States at an early age and was raised in Miami, Florida. He decided to pursue his higher education at the University of Miami where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. While at the University of Miami, Dr. Bland met and shadowed Dr. Robert Marx, one of the leading oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the world. This experience confirmed that Dr. Bland wanted to dedicate himself to a career in this field. He completed his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University of Florida where he graduated with honors.
Dr. Bland was accepted to the University of Miami/ JacksonMemorialHospital's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program whose chairman is the renowned Dr. Robert Marx. This intensive program offers unique training in all aspects of oral surgery including facial trauma, pathology and reconstructive surgery, orthognathic surgery, dental and implant surgery, and anesthesia. Due to his training, Dr. Bland is well qualified to and regularly provides anesthesia and sedation to his patients. He is currently on staff at Boca Raton Regional Hospital as well as West Boca Medical Center where he provides care to those patients that, due to medical reasons, cannot have their surgeries done in the typical office setting.
JacksonMemorialHospital is also where Dr. Bland met his wife, Dr. Sarah Bland, who is an internist at JFK Hospital. Dr. Bland and his wife live locally with their young daughter and son. In his spare time he enjoys painting, following Miami sports teams, and relaxing with family and friends. Dr. Bland is fluent in Spanish.
